INNOVATING SCIENCE
Innovating Metal Recovery through Science
Infinite Elements is a pioneering R&D company dedicated to creating environmentally friendly metal extraction and recovery processes. By harnessing the power of engineered microorganisms specifically designed to target and dissolve metals, we aim to transform metal recovery from mining and electronic waste. We are more than just a concept; we have developed and validated the technology to recover specific metals efficiently and sustainably.
DOE Support and Collaborations
Our cutting-edge science and innovative approaches have garnered significant support and recognition from the Department of Energy (DOE). In 2022, we secured $0.5M through the ARPA-E SBIR (Phase 1 & 2) and have continued to leverage non-dilutive funding and in-kind opportunities from the DOE. Here are some highlights of our collaborations:
Letter of Support from NREL: We have received a letter of support from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Techno-Economic Analysis (TEA) support.
Critical Materials Accelerator Program: We are authorized by NREL’s Alliance for Sustainable Energy to participate in their Critical Materials accelerator program.
Advanced Filtration System Grant: We are authorized to participate in the grant opportunity for the Advanced Filtration System for High-Purity Critical Element Recovery from DOE’s Lawrence Berkeley National Labs.
Our Robust Approach to Metal Recovery
Biofilter Technology: Our biofilter technology can recover specific metals targeted within the filter, demonstrating a robust approach to metal recovery.
High Recovery Rates:
Achieving over 95% recovery of Copper (Cu), Cobalt (Co), Nickel (Ni), and Zinc (Zn) from aqueous solutions.
Achieving 87-95% recovery of Rare Earth Elements (REEs) from mixed solutions in two filtration steps, without using organic solvents or producing toxic by-products.
